This is a piano trio that plays with strength and unanimity… big, bold, almost orchestral performances. The Gryphon brings bravura spirit to the piano trio.

The Gryphon’s musical conversations are animated and charming… It has character and detail to spare, and elegance is no small accomplishment.

An ensemble-in-residence at Music Toronto for more than 25 years, the Gryphon Trio performs extensively throughout North America and Europe. Their commitment to artistic innovation has produced over 100 commissioned works, numerous multimedia works and resulted in collaborations with a long list of musicians and artists from other fields.
A landmark achievement, Constantinople—a multimedia work conceived by composer Christos Hatzis and created with a remarkable theatrical production team—was presented across North America and at London’s Royal Opera House. More recently, the Trio produced Echo – Memories of the World, in collaboration with a team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists. Also featuring singer Marion Newman and actor Cheri Maracle, Echo is a powerful multimedia work that positions artists as custodians of shared heritage, giving voice to memories and histories that have too often been marginalized, silenced, or erased.
