Music that
speaks to you
Host Gary Kulesha and the Gryphon Trio in dialogue
and concert A Gryphon Trio initiative developed with Music Toronto
Hosted by celebrated Canadian composer Gary Kulesha,
the Music that speaks to you presentations offer audiences a refreshing
look at the lives of well known composers and their work. Kulesha’s
brilliant commentary touches on little known facts and connections
that offer today's audiences a new appreciation for talent, creative
process and historical circumstance. |
An Introduction to Chamber Music
Having performed around the world for the last 14
years, the Gryphon Trio brings a wealth of experience, a huge repertoire
to draw from, and a sense of humour and humanity to its school presentations.
The Gryphon Trio offers two versions of its school
presentations. Host schools can have the Trio prepare a curriculum-specific
lecture/demonstration, which focuses on a specific period, or a
lecture/demonstration that provides an overview of the piano trio
repertoire. An overview includes Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary
works presented in an invigorating way leaving the students with
a broader appreciation of style, form, musical interplay and historical
context. |
Young Composers Program at Claude
Watson Arts High School
The focus of this interactive Gryphon Trio education
initiative is to usher approximately thirty high school music students
through the process of composing a short trio for violin, cello,
and piano. Initiated by the Gryphon Trio in 1996 with composer and
teacher Dr. Philip McConnell, the project at Claude Watson Arts
High School is currently overseen on a daily basis by faculty member
and composer, Alan Torok.
