I invite you to join another exciting Classical Music Cruise on the great rivers of Europe. This time it’s the Rhine from Amsterdam,
through the heartland of Germany and ending in Switzerland.
This is the part of the world where Beethoven and the great Romantics who followed him lived and worked. We are approaching the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth in 1770 and our ship-board guest artists, The Gryphon Trio, and clarinetist James Campbell will be performing a private concert for cruise passengers at the BeethovenHaus in Bonn.
Cruise passengers will experience the combined intensity and musical passion of Jim’s Festival of the Sound and the Gryphon’s Ottawa Chamber Music Festival. Indeed, where else but on an STI Classical Music Cruise would it be possible to celebrate Canada’s outstanding chamber music scene?
Equally, this is a countryside with a deserved reputation for beauty and an extraordinary legacy of myth, legend, literature and music. The always affable and unflappable Gery Valtiner of Special Travel will be on hand to smooth the way, assisted by the memorable cuisine and every other comfort of the AmaSerena.
Finally, to add a hint of spice to a well-rounded Canadian musical palate, watch for Graham Campbell, versatile jazz guitarist, composer and arranger. As the cruise draws to a close in Zurich, there will be a world-premiere performance of his new work, inspired by the Rhine Valley, and combining classical and jazz elements.
So, onward to the Rhine. Set sail on a musical quest to explore the heartland and heritage of Beethoven and the German Romantics!
